2014 Dig - First weekend
by SEW - 07:56 on 14 July 2014
The first weekend of the excavation is over, and we’re off to a cracking start! Despite a slightly wet Saturday afternoon, the sun has been shining and our volunteers have been very busy clearing back the site in preparation for a few new trenches, and adding to our already mountain-esque spoil heap. An assortment of interesting finds have already made their way up, including a small brooch or fastener and a nearly identical larger one, more medieval pottery, and the fragment of another spindle whorl. We’ll be investigating some of the more interesting features in coming days, so do come along and see what we’re up to, and perhaps dig a little yourself!
