What a day! Amazing weather and we finally saw the extent of one Medieval building, ironically with a 19th century midden cut through it. However, the folks digging this rubbish pit had the courtesy to leave the walls of the Medieval building mostly in situ and their midden has provided us with some fantastic personal objects from the period of later settlement on Thiefs Row. We're grateful to the specialist training this week which has helped us all to evaluate and identify many of the artefacts....

We can't wait to excavate through the interior of the buildings to find out more about the medieval occupation!
