Visit from the Pottery specialists
by Unknown - 07:53 on 10 August 2013
We were incredibly grateful (as we have been with all of our supporters!) to be visited by Derek Hall and George Haggarty, both Medieval and Post Medieval ceramics specialists. Derek and George conducted a rapid preview of some of our finds and may have identified our own locally-made redware! Some of their observations and comments are supportive of our initial interpretations of the site - what we have uncovered so far is suggesting that the Reeds Field site may have been an industrial area for Medieval Cromarty. It seems that the fishing industry is related - and this is supported by the amount of fish bone, stone pot lids, dense ash layers and lack of domestic pottery...
Please come by the site on Saturday to have a tour and find out more about what we've been uncovering!
Visit by George and Derek to check out our pottery The dog is impressed with our finds!
